The subject, ace stand in Chris Clement, was roughly five feet from the camera. This isn't meant to be an aesthetic test to show the difference in image quality between the two cameras. It's a down and dirty field guide for myself and the other shooters we work with so we can quickly figure what lens we want to use on each camera. We go from 20mm all the way to 100mm with a Lensbaby composer thrown in at the very end. This video shows the difference in term of FOV between the full frame Canon EOS 5D Mark II (reviews) and the 1.6 crop factor Canon EOS 7D (reviews) using the same lenses.

The Canon EOS 1D Mark IV used a Rode VideoMic shotgun microphone for audio. Using a Nikon mount to micro four thirds adaptor on the lumix GH1 camera. With manual aperture control lenses, there is no problem in using this set up. With a simple modification, explained in the video, you can use non manual aperture control lenses as well. The modification allows you to use some of the later generation lenses which are normally excluded from use with these simple adaptors. As there is no lectrical connection between the camera and lens via the adaptor, the camera is set to operate in manual mode, controlling overall sensitivity with the ISO speed control if the camera cannot set the gain (speed) control automatically with the lens aperture you have set. Micro four third adaptors are available for M42 thread lenses, Nikon, Canon and Olympus and give the effective doubling of the 35mm lens on the micro four thirds camera so for example the 300mm Nikkor lens becomes an effective 600mm lens!!

Transcript of this video Hi, I'm John Harrington and we're going to break out and break down the wide variety of equipment we use to deliver images to our clients. Next we are going to show you one of the equipment kits we use when we are traveling on assignment. Each kit is different and has a very specific purpose. So lets take a look. One of the things we use a lot is our Jacobson Blimp. The camera is often too loud for us to shoot on a soundstage, movie set, or in other areas where silence is critical. These cameras as you probably know by now are awfully loud. We pack it in a Versa-Flex case, which is a semi soft case but you can still stand on it. The blimp is actually a hard case, and inside the case is a cut out for the camera with a remote. The camera actually fits in with the remote connecting to the camera. The camera slides in nicely, neatly inside the case. We use mostly our prime lenses for this. In this case we've got a 35 1.4. The 35 1.4 goes on with the lens tube. These lens tubes are fitted to each lens. Now when you fire it, now the camera is much quieter, much less likely for the noise to be picked up from a sound stage microphone. Each tube is in here; each lens has a different tube. There's the 24-70 tube, this tube also works for the 135. One of the nice things about the tube when you are using a zoom is the outer ring. The outer zoom ring is actually slightly larger on the camera. When you put ...

Maybe even use that money to pick up a higher quality microphone if you are going to be using this camera for YouTube. The T4i would really only be the choice for you if you feel you will significantly benefit from the continuous auto-focus in HD video mode, which as mentioned in this video, you can achieve a similar type effect if you keep your camera's lens in automatic. No matter what interchangeable lens camera you choose, I'd love to hear your thoughts and decisions below!
